too busy
May 30, 2010One of the things that Riza and I are currently trying to figure out is our schedules. For the past week, it seems that we have so many things juggling that we don’t have time to enjoy ourselves. I guess it’s normal to have times like these as we try to adjust with each other’s new time table. We sometimes get too caught up with our own stuff that we even forget some of the simple things like paying our insurance quotes, utilities, and bills. One time, we almost had our phones and electricty disconnected because we forgot all about it.
This week, we plan to do much better and fix our schedules. We plan to maximize some free time and not waste it. Here’s hoping we all have a very good week ahead!
wet and wild waves
May 20, 2010After months of deliberation and planning, finally, we get to go on a swimming trip. Initially, only a few people are included. But as I said, the planning took months (much like looking for Ferrari parts), but it’s mostly because of conflicting schedules, and we are now a party of 25 people. And because Riza and I would be shouldering half of the fees, we’re looking for a cheap but great place where the kids can enjoy. And I think we just did.
This Saturday, we’re set to head over Masuso, Pandi, Bulacan, to check out Villa Conception Wet and Wild Waves‘ facilities. I wouldn’t trust the resort’s name though. I expect very little wet and wild adventure from this place, mostly because I don’t want to get disappointed later. Our main goal here is to get together and catch up. And of course there’s always some good food meant for sharing.
Here’s hoping you’ll have a great weekend too!
an awesome trip
May 15, 2010All in all, it was an awesome trip. I dare say that one of the best bonding times should be spent by friends travelling together and experiencing new food and culture.
Being the only guy, I figured one of the things that really bonded my wife Riza and her two friends: shopping and shoes.
Did you know that while waiting to board our plane they collected all the ringgit coins left because we wouldn’t be able to exchange them back here and spent a few minutes browsing the duty free shops. And they saw more chocolates and perfumes but they were able to control themselves. I guess they all didn’t want to whip out their credit cards and deal with credit card processing. But they did get some really good stuff that we enjoyed while waiting for our flight back.
I can’t wait till we go on another trip.
limousine taxi
After some last minute shopping at the Central Market, we went back to Tunes Hotel to fix our luggage and get ready for our taxi ride to the airport.
We were waiting at the hotel lobby and having a light snack, and I was in front of the hotel waiting for our taxi. Just then, another taxi that the locals there call limousine parked in front and waited for his clients. We had some small talk and I got to know that he was a Christian too. His name was Anthony. I was able to convince him to be our backup taxi just in case our taxi didn’t show up. In addition, since we were both Christians, he agreed to a very reasonable fare. If you must know, limousine taxis are more expensive than regular taxis before they’re more spacious (kinda like an Toyota Avanza or Innova). So getting him to agree on basically the same rates as a regular taxi was a blessing. I was actually so happy getting this deal that when I told Riza and our friends about the deal, we were all praying that our driver wouldn’t show up so we could get Anthony. Hehe
And you know what? Our taxi didn’t show up. We waited a full hour before we boarded Anthony’s limousine, just to be fair. The airport is about two hours away from the city, and as always, I got to talk to our driver Anthony.
In addition to some quick weight loss tips, he told me more about KL, its people and culture, his family, and some jokes. We chatted during whole trip to the airport. I think we got so close that before leaving, I gave him a quick hug and hoped to see him again.
Bukit Bintang
One more thing not to miss while in Kuala Lumpur is an area called Bukit Bintang. From the KL Tower, it is but a short taxi ride away, less than 10 minutes in fact. We paid RM10, which was actually too much. I think the fair amount could be between RM5 to RM7. Anyway, since there’s 4 of us, it isn’t that much.
While we all had a great time at the Central Market, I couldn’t say the same for Bukit Bintang.
You see, Bukit Bintang is like Divisoria. It’s a street filled with malls and shops, and we actually don’t know where to start.
We went into one of the malls and started looking around. And when the girls saw another shoe store that they frequent in Suria KLCC, they went in again. I spent my alone time touring the place. This mall is huge. And let me just say that like Divisoria, this place probably has everything, from shoes and clothes to the best wrinkle remover to home appliances. The particular mall that we went into was a bit old but it is filled with shops. There’s very little space left for people to walk through.
If you’re into hunting bargains, then I’d recommend this place. But since we’re much more into cultural shops and souvenirs, we went back to Central Market instead to finish some last minute shopping before our evening flight.
