wishing for a weekend off

June 18, 2010

My wife Riza is almost on her seventh month of pregnancy. In no time at all, I’m sure we’ll be too busy with the baby. And because of that, we’ve been making the most of our free time together. Our weekends are filled with lots of activities, most of which happen spontaneously. I initially thought we’d have at least one day each week to rest and relax. You know, stay in bed for as long as we want, have brunch, etc. But you know what? It’s been a long, long, time since we had that. No matter how much we try to fix our schedules and plan our week, pretty soon we’re rushing somewhere again and trying to accommodate invitations, especially those that happen rarely.

I guess we should be happy that we have a few things keeping us busy. I can’t imagine how our lives would be if we have nothing to do. I guess it’d be pretty boring. But sometimes, we can’t help but long for days when nothing is planned and we can do as we please. I think we need a weekend off. Let’s see.

Ponciana’s Kitchen

June 6, 2010

Of course, all that walking and shopping drained us. I’ve read some good reviews about Ponciana’s Kitchen long ago. But the last time we were in Greenhills and wanted to try Ponciana’s Kitchen, the line was too long. It was only this afternoon that we were able to try it.

I ordered their famous baked fish. And it took quite a while for my fish to arrive. I actually almost lost my patience. My campanions are almost finish with their late lunch. Thankfully, the dish saved the day. It was very much worth the looong wait. The apidexin reviews that I recently read flew out the window. It was rich and creamy, and the melted cheese that made a crust at the top very much complimented the dish. My companions tasted it too, and we all agree that it was awesome. I can’t wait to go back again.

Greenhills shopping

In lieu of a weekend getaway, my wife and I, together with her sister and cousin, decided to spend a day in Greenhills. It’s been a while since we’ve been there so somehow it feels like a treat. Plus, my wife’s been meaning to visit the area because her favorite hairdresser came back from Dubai and relocated there from Makati. It’s like hitting two birds with one stone.

We didn’t call and just walked in at the salon. Good thing we were early, and Ms. Nems only had one client. My wife was so happy seeing her old hairdresser that she almost cried. She was also able to convince her sister and cousin to have their haircuts as well. After that, we did what most people go to Greenhills for, that is, shopping!

A great fat burner alternative, we hopped from one stall to another. I was able to go home with a pair of nice pair of shorts and a shirt. Yay! I also tried some fake shoes but wasn’t satisfied with the quality. Nothing beats the original. We also saw great clothes for the baby. But since we don’t know the sex yet, we only bought a few. We plan to go back again after next month’s check. Hopefully by then we know of it’s a boy or girl.

easy comfort food

This is one of my ultimate comfort foods. And I wonder why it’s only now am I sharing it here. It won’t cost gold coins, and it’s very easy to make. It’s daing na bangus. Seasoned and fried perfectly, this dish reminds me of home. Our version has the chopped onion and tomatoes placed on top right before serving. A perfect compliment for this dish would be salted eggs mixed with some more tomatoes. And for soup, a hot bowl of Maggi’s chicken noodles will most definitely do. Perfect for dinner outdoors on such a cool night like this.

rescheduled

June 4, 2010

And so we thought we’d have a breather from our very busy schedule. Our dream of spending a day relaxing in Tagaytay this weekend was rescheduled on a yet to be determined date because Riza’s relatives from General Santos came by for a visit. There are about ten of them, half of whom are kids! You know that we usually drop by my in-laws after work and have dinner together. But since they arrived, the house has started to look like a circus. There’s just so many people.

It was great seeing the kids, really, most of whom were just babies when I first saw them years ago. Now, they’ve grown so much. And it’d be years before we see each other again, so we’re somehow making the most of it. Who knows? Maybe the next time I see these kids they have their own lives, sporting an electronic cigarette and getting ready to settle down. Yikes!
